We've had a blast celebrating our playful Milk & Cereal cookie, with our awesome neighbors! After all, nobody knows how to play like Miracle Mile Toys & Games. Today, we're spotlighting another local business in honor of the inspiration behind the Milk & Cereal cookie - Saturday Morning Cartoons! We chatted with our friend Filip over at BOOM! Studios to learn more about their headquarters at 5670 Wilshire.
Q: What does the BOOM! Studios team do?
We publish comic books! To go a bit more in depth, the BOOM! Studios team works with hundreds of writers, artists, colorists, and letterers around the globe to generate brand-new comic book content every single week. We publish around 25 comic books and 10 collections every month across four distinct imprints. We publish a mixture of original content, meaning brand-new ideas that we develop with our creators, and licensed material, which are comics based on existing brands like Adventure Time, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Peanuts, and Sons of Anarchy, to name a few. Our team is made up of editors, production designers, marketing professionals, operations personnel, finance analysts, and support staff.
Q: How long have you been in Miracle Mile?
We've been at our current location since summer of 2012. Before that we were nearby in Carthay Circle.
Q: What is the mood over at BOOM! headquarters?
Passionate, sincere, relaxed, and fueled by a sense of purpose. On any given day you might find members of the team debating the latest comic book, movie, TV, or music releases in our halls. Or you might walk in on a lunchtime Mario Kart or Pokémon tournament. We work hard, we play hard, and we're lucky enough to have a team that genuinely loves hanging out with each other.
Q: What is the mission behind BOOM! Studios?
To make comics for everyone. It's hard to meet someone that hasn't read a book, watched a movie or TV show, or listened to a song. But it's still pretty easy to meet someone who hasn't read a comic book. We want to change that, so that comic books become as ubiquitous a form of entertainment as any other form of expression in pop culture.

Like Milk Jar, these are all independently owned and operated businesses that deserve your patronage. Q: Anything else?
We love Milk Jar Cookies! Not only is it one of our favorite ways to surprise our staff for special occasions, but we have a dedicated crew of staff that get their afternoon coffee there every weekday. I'm pretty sure we've tried every single cookie flavor and our favorites are as varied as our team.
