As silly as these fake holidays are, today’s strikes a fun little chord with me. It reminds me of my childhood when this “cookie dream” of mine began. Any chance I had, I would be making chocolate chip cookie dough (dough being the operative word here – sometimes it wouldn’t make it past my sister & I and into the oven…). Slumber party? Let’s make cookies! Saturday afternoon? Let’s make cookies! You get the idea. Anyway, this sweet little treat started to represent something bigger to me, the older I got. I began to appreciate the smiles and small moments of happiness that always seemed to accompany the giving and receiving of cookies. It’s nice to have a fun day like “National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day” to remind us to cherish the little things…you never know what they might turn into down the road.
